Tasmanian Blackwood

Tasmanian Blackwood 1500x140x50mm
$70.00

Planted in the Papamoa Hills in 1984, this is a genuinely local timber with over 45 years of growth behind it. One of the most striking hardwoods available, Tasmanian Blackwood is prized for its rich warm tones, striking sapwood and wavy grain that catches the light beautifully.

A true premium hardwood, it finishes to a natural lustre and depth that few timbers can match. Supplied in a smooth dressed finish with no stains applied, what you see is the timber's true natural colour and character. Add a natural oil and watch the colours come to life. It is a favourite among furniture makers and flooring specialists.

Ideal for: Furniture · Flooring · Joinery · Timber Accents · Feature Walls

As a natural product, boards may contain light-coloured sap and occasional tight knots — these are characteristic of the timber, not defects. Dimensions are subject to a 2–3mm+ tolerance.

Exchanges can be made upon immediate inspection of the timber; return shipping is at the cost of the purchaser.

Planted in the Papamoa Hills in 1984, this is a genuinely local hardwood with over 40 years of growth behind it. Tasmanian Oak is prized for its pale colour, fine straight grain, and natural gum veins that give each piece its own character.

Lighter and more even in texture than English Oak, it's a true hardwood — dense, stable, and built to last lifetimes indoors. Highly versatile and a favourite among furniture makers, flooring specialists, and builders alike.

Now more than ever, locally grown timber has an increasingly important role in our architecture, interiors, and built heritage. In recognition of this, Summerhill Timbers has spent the last 45 years planting, growing, and nurturing a range of specialty hardwood and softwood forests in the Papamoa Hills.

As each stand reaches maturity, trees are hand-selected and milled without treatment — preserving their full natural strength, colour, and character.
